
BLOOD AND MARROW STEM CELL TRANSPLANT (BMSCT) SIG STRATEGIC PLAN 2006-2009
Mission Statement BMSCT nursing exists to provide optimal care to persons who undergo marrow and blood stem cell transplantation. Therefore, the mission of the BMSCT SIG is to promote excellence in BMSCT nursing by:
- Establishing the highest professional standards of BMSCT nursing
- Researching topics important to the practice of BMSCT nursing
- Encouraging nurses to specialize in the practice of BMSCT nursing
- Fostering the professional development of BMSCT nurses, through mentoring and coaching
- Maintaining an organizational structure and function that is responsive to the changing needs of BMSCT SIG members and populations they represent.
The BMSCT SIG mission is accomplished by implementing the following strategic goals:
- To develop products, services, opportunities and a knowledge base that promotes excellence in BMSCT nursing.
- Develop and implement educational strategies that provide and integrate state of the art knowledge in the care of the BMSCT patient
- Continue to enhance the quality and versatility of the BMSCT newsletter
- Facilitate collaboration and networking between BMSCT centers and/or SIG
- To increase resources in order to ensure the continued growth and strength of ONS.
- Explore and implement strategies of recruitment and retention
- Develop leaders of BMT nursing within the SIG
