The Use of Erythropoiesis Stimulating Agents in Cancer and Related Neoplastic Conditions
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is seeking public comment on their proposed determination that there is sufficient evidence to conclude that erythropoiesis stimulating agent (ESA) treatment is not reasonable and necessary for beneficiaries with certain clinical conditions, either because of a deleterious effect of the ESA on their underlying disease or because the underlying disease increases their risk of adverse effects related to ESA use. Volunteers for Haiti Relief Effort

National Nurses United, the nation’s largest organization of registered nurses, today activated its nationwide disaster relief program to recruit nurse volunteers to provide assistance to residents of earthquake-devastated Haiti. More than 4,500 registered nurses have responded in less than one day. Details are still being worked out, but those able to support the efforts of these nurses can get involved by signing up to volunteer or donate.
